So you've decided to start a business!
Congratulations!
I almost envy you, because this new adventure is a fantastic emotional roller coaster to experience. Of course being new to business there's a lot to learn, you're figuring out what you need and don't need as far as the cluttered market of digital tools and Software as a Service (SaaS) it can be easy to spend more than you want. One thing you DO NOT want to skimp on is an email address for your business. If you're openly doing business with an @gmail, you need me. (No seriously, email me immediately)
So why is a free email account so bad? Does it do that much damage?
Free Email Domains
A Domain is often categorized as a direct web address that takes potential clients directly to your site. While yes, it is an address it's more the street or zip code for your digital Domain (Ah puns), not a direct house number. If you have a personalized website you pay for, you have a domain. So then why are you still using that @gmail.com address on your cards and with social media?
Free Email addresses while convenient give customers the impression you're not serious or professional. It makes a huge impact on the validation of you having a business, not a scam or a hobby.
Customers are ever vigilant for email related scams, an email from a free email account and the unknown sender is typically ignored and treated as Spam.
When I look at the bulletin boards at coffeehouses and such, I see the art and hours that went into all the papercraft and then I see the missed opportunities and wasted printing costs with an @yahoo here and *shudders* AOL there.
These email addresses are KILLING your chances of making a new sale or connection.

Most Domain Hosts provide free email forwarding services or connections to existing service providers. Gmail works hand in hand with Google Domain. Even a Free Gmail can be used and connected to your domain so customers can send emails to Info@YourBuiness.com go to your Unbranded Email@Gmail.com and customers aren't the wiser.
